Why Marikina submerged by Typhoon Ondoy

Satellite photo reveals the truth.


Basically, Marikina, Pasig and other parts of Luzon including Cainta, Rizal were surrounded by mountains as shown on these maps. While Quezon City lies higher than said cities.

If you look at the maps waters from mountains will flow running though San mateo then Marikina, Cainta, Pasig and going to Laguna Bay (located at bottom part of the map).
